The Red Bull Air Race is an exhilarating motorsport event featuring high-speed planes navigating challenging courses. For this edition, Garmin introduced a new video camera system capable of tracking critical flight data such as speed, direction, and g-force in real time. My role was to design user interface concepts that would visually overlay this dynamic data on the live video feed, creating an engaging and informative viewing experience for fans and commentators.

The key challenge was to design UI “skins” that could intuitively present complex telemetry data, including speed, directional vectors, and g-force, without distracting from the thrilling visuals of the race. Additionally, these designs needed to balance the distinct visual identities of both Red Bull and Garmin, ensuring the interface reflected their corporate branding while maintaining clarity and usability.
