Pipeline Workflow Software

about.

The Pipeline software is a graphical workflow tool that connects multiple neuroimaging packages into a single, controlled process, transforming siloed steps into a seamless sequence. These workflows guide raw data through a series of analytical steps, helping scientists align, compare, and interpret brain imaging data with precision and repeatability. I contributed to the redesign of the interface, making it more approachable and flexible for users across disciplines.

challenge.

Neuroimaging researchers had grown accustomed to command‐line scripts or disjointed GUIs to analyze their data. They needed an interface that made complex parameter settings approachable without sacrificing the depth and flexibility they required. The challenge was to simplify this process into an intuitive interface that allowed everyday users, not just programmers, to edit, share, and reuse workflows as part of their research process.

action.

I helped to abstract technical software processes into branded nodes that could be visually connected to planned workflows. I also designed a friendlier system icon to signal approachability. Through multiple rounds of user testing and quality assurance, I refined drag-and-drop interactions, parameter dialogs, and export functions. I also authored a clear, example‐driven user handbook.

result.

Researchers reported a 20% reduction in setup errors and a smoother onboarding process for new lab members. The visual workflow environment became the default method in several major neuroimaging centers.

final thoughts.

This project reflects my passion for simplifying the complex, making advanced tools feel approachable without compromising depth. The work reaffirmed my belief that good design doesn’t just support science… it accelerates it.
